I asked ASUS for the same problem wth my P5-E3 mainboard, and received this
answer from them. It might also apply for you:

This motherboard comes with the support of MyLogo3, which plays the picture
inserted in slide show with no repeats if single picture is inserted.
Only when 640x480(a)240 color animated GIF file has been inserted will it be able
to display correctly during POST stage.

Please kindly make that picture into an animated GIF of the same picture for
the duration of 5 seconds, if you intend to use single still image as your POST
logo on this motherboard.
