I just checked the man page and it does look to be a useful, but unnecessary, tool for user accounts. The database itself provides everything the administrator needs.

Well, I've tried over the years, but they don't want to have to figure things out regarding a computer. They're both about as non-geeky as is possible, and use things that just work better with Windoze (iPods and such). <shrug> -- "Ubuntu" -- an African word, meaning "Slackware is too hard for me".
