I've got my phone paired with the tomtom without a problem for making
handsfree voice calls. The tomtom is supposedly capable of reading out text
messages but this does not happen and the text options on the tomtom are
greyed out.

I am guessing that this is just a compatability issue but would like to know
whether it lies with the phone or the tomtom. The phone compatibility list
on the tomtom website lists very few phones that support this feature.

Yes. Everything works as it should except for text messages.

Its the N95. If you go to the Tomtom site there is a list of
compatable phones

http://www.tomtom.com/phones/compatibility/?intProduct=20

Most Nokias are not compatable, if I use my Motorola or Sony Erricson,
both these read texts out ok, my n95 only works for voice

Thanks for confirming its the phone and a shortfall in the features of the
N95 - thanks Nokia!

Guess it's too much to expect Nokia to enable this in a firmware update.

This feature works (or should I say worked) with my 6230i. It's the latest
software on TomTom that has stopped my mobile working properly with it! Boy
do I wish my TT was back to the state it was in when I bought it - shades of
windows 'improvements'
