20W idling, not sure how much when rebuilding but I'd be surprised if
it were over 40W. It has a single 80mm fan for the disks that runs at
1800rpm mostly, which is quieter than the total from the four
Samsung+Seagate hard drives I've got in it.

But it's GigE so it lives in the cellar next to the GigE switch and
the UPS rather than anywhere that it might annoy me. It's noisier than
a Mini, but quieter and lower power than a Mini plus four external
drives.

That's not too bad. Can it sleep as well?

Anything with n drives is going to make a certain amount of noise, I
guess. So not one for the living room.
