Is it possible to have this NIS setup:
- AIX as an NIS server (AIX 5.3)
- Linux as a client (RHEL 4 sp4)

Other question:

- Is it possible to implement NIS if the UID differs from the server
and the client ?

In this scenario, is LDAP a better option ?

With LDAP, is it mandatory to have UID identical in all the hosts ?
