The current kernel in slackware-current is 2.6.24.5. Are you saying the
(unpatched) NVIDIA binary fails with that kernel?

Sorry for the confusion. You're right of course. I installed
2.6.25 on a slack-current and found that the NVIDIA binary needs
to be patched, but it works on 2.6.24.5.
