I have a Laptop running XP Professional and the same on the Desktop. The
Desktop is connected to a USB hub as is the laptop. Previously there were
communicating and I went away on 2 weeks business trip and now there is no
communication. The hub is connected to an ADSL I have run the network wizard
on both. When I look at network places on the desktop I can see it and the
laptop OK. When I look at teh Laptop Network Places I can only see it and not
the desktop. I cannot communicate either way. The cable is connected OK.

Can anyone offer suggestions?

Thanks

Peter,

If there's any one thing to look for, it's a personal firewall or other security
program, blocking SMBs.

Then, look at logs from "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server",
and "net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem.

Thanks Chuck. I found that my security suite (Zone Alarm) was inhibiting the
transfer. I am not sure why as today it is OK. Yesterday I was able to turn
it off and it worked. I turned it back on and it did not.

Thanks again

Knowing where the fault lies, Peter, is half the battle. If the problem starts
again, you'll have a good starting point to diagnosing and fixing it. Thanks
for the update.
