From: Chris Wood on 4 Jul 2008 10:45 Hi, Yesterday's Security Bulletin Advanced Notice http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/bulletin/ms08-jul.mspx talks about a patch coming for SQL 7/2000/2005. Wonder if this will be in CU9 for SQL2005? If it is extra to CU7 for SQL2005 it will make my life more complicated as we are just about to put CU7 into our Production servers. Better watch this space on Tuesday. Chris

The way I read it, it is a patch to SP2. I don't really know how they deal with all the CU1-n, but I would expect that they release one patch for one each of them, if that is necessary. -- Erland Sommarskog, SQL Server MVP, esquel(a)sommarskog.se Books Online for SQL Server 2005 at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/downloads/books.mspx Books Online for SQL Server 2000 at http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/previousversions/books.mspx
From: Chris Wood on 8 Jul 2008 13:48 Look's like I got lucky by picking CU7. The patch is included in CU7 and CU8.
