However I had my own 'rock and roll' PA System. I got out one of the mid-range horns (acoustic output @ 1m = 130dB), pointed it in their direction and gave then a nice range of square wave frequencies for a minute or two. It quietened down after that. Years later a friend told me he was there at the time and I'd totally drowned out their own PA. He said it was ear shattering, although I doubt over 90dB by the time it reached them. Graham cross-posted to AAPLS for amusement value

My second summer semester of university happened to coincide with the construction of a large artificial lake just feet from my dorm room. 3 large earthmovers circled under my dorm window from 6 am to 6 pm, 6days per week, week after week. I came up with a prank that provided my dorm mates and I a few laughs and a lot of tension relief. Using a pair of Shure SM55 microphones and a Tandberg recorder, I made a good long tape of the earthmovers doing their thing. One night, my roommate and I hauled the school's "Dance System" up to our room. I memory serves this included a pair of JBL 001 systems with D130 15" woofers and 175 Midrange horns. Power came from a pair of Dyna 70s, the stereo channels paralleled. We stacked the speakers on the dorm's fire escape dorm and pointed them towards the partially-finished lake bed. We played our tape just below amplifier clipping until we saw the headlights of the campus patrol car approaching the area. The audio gear quickly disappeared into our dorm room. The cop, fully expecting to see that someone had started up one or more of the earthmovers, was left there standing in silence, earthmovers parked as they were supposed to be, with him scratching his head. ;-)

A GOOD prank would have been to remotely control the equipment and chase the guard with it. -- http://improve-usenet.org/index.html If you have broadband, your ISP may have a NNTP news server included in your account: http://www.usenettools.net/ISP.htm Sporadic E is the Earth's aluminum foil beanie for the 'global warming' sheep.
