From: Z.K. on 9 Dec 2007 02:14 I have no sound in Fedora 8. When I first installed it, it seemed to have it during the install as I was able to test it at that point, but now that installation is complete, I have no sound. In System->Administration->Soundcard Detection->Audio configuration it detects both my sound card which is a Intel and is listed as Corporation 82801EB/ER(ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller as well as my video capture card which is a BT878 and is listed as Brooktree BT878. When I do a sound test on my Audio Controller, there is no sound. IF I bring up my volume control it has a switches tab only and lists a microphone and if I go to File->Change Device, there are several devices listed, but not my Audio Controller though the video capture card is listed. In the /var/log/messages file it seems to have an error: Dec 8 03:03:37 localhost kernel: Intel ICH: probe of 0000:00:1f.5 failed with error -12 cat /proc/asound/cards: 0 [Camera ]: USB-Audio - Camera Camera at usb-0000:00:1d.7-2.3, full speed 1 [Bt878 ]: Bt87x - Brooktree Bt878 Brooktree Bt878 at 0xf7eff000, irq 16 /sbin/lspci: 00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02) it appears I have a problem with my on board sound card as it is not even listed in /proc/asound/cards. Any ideas on how to fix this? Z.K.
