From: Walter R. on 8 Apr 2008 11:11 It looks like 19" LCD monitors have been replaced by 22" widescreen monitors. At least I could not find any advertised. My computer is 6 years old (generic Pentium 4)) and works fine with my windows XP Pro and my 17" LCD monitor. I would like to upgrade from my 17" monitor to something bigger. Will my old computer work with one of the new widescreen monitors (22")? Will it severely distort (stretch) the faces of people or cause other aberrations? Thanks for any input. -- Walter www.rationality.net -

You can still get 19" "fullscreen" monitors: (mind the url wrap) http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020+1309821317+1301922115&Configurator=&Subcategory=20&description=&Ntk=&srchInDesc=

The 204B is a nice, non-widescreen monitor. http://tinyurl.com/38omeu -- Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens.

Couldn't find a 19" LCD monitor? Where did you look? Try going to NewEgg.com and entering 19" LCD into the search. That should turn up scores of results. That said, it doesn't take much of a graphics card to successfully drive a widescreen LCD at full resolution without distortion. At least until you get ready to start playing a demanding "fast-twitch" game when all bets are off. My antiquated P4 Shuttle SB65G2 system has an equally antiquated ATI 9600XT video card and it successfully drives a ViewSonic widescreen. -- John McGaw [Knoxville, TN, USA] http://johnmcgaw.com
