From: JGE on 12 Nov 2007 00:12 Yes, I'm still running the classic old Palm Vx. Just ought a new-old- stock one off eBay (my current one being a bit long in the tooth) but it has OS 3.5.3, unlike OS 4 on my other one. Is their a way to get OS 4 for the new one ? Looked in archives of this group, and everything looks like old news. Palm webpage just has 3.5.3. Thanks, John

If so, you will be able to take a ROM copy of the OS4 device and put it onto the 3.5 device. Although I daresay, although PalmOS 4.x looks prettier than 3.x, many applications with work with 3.5 upwards - it may not be too relevant? -- The DervMan www.dervman.com

Good point, not a biggy, there are just a few things I like better about OS 4 in the standard apps. Thanks, John

It's an old application that allows users to modify their devices' ROM. Typical uses include removing extra languages or some applications you'll never need. The company that produced it is now out of the business - drop me an email if you like and I may be able to help you. <footnote: I'm not about much of the weekend, so it may not be until next week before I can get back to you>. >> Although I daresay, although PalmOS 4.x looks prettier than 3.x, many >> applications with work with 3.5 upwards - it may not be too relevant? > > Good point, not a biggy, there are just a few things I like better > about OS 4 > in the standard apps. You can still get the Palm OS 4.1 upgrade CDs on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Palm-OS-4-1-upgrade-III-IIIx-IIxe-IIIc-V-Vx-A-MUST- HAVE_W0QQitemZ220173048849QQihZ012QQcategoryZ115047QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1Q QcmdZViewItem -- RonB "There's a story there...somewhere"
