From: Pieta on 15 Jun 2008 05:03 Hi there, I recently caught a very bad virus that forced me to reinstall Windows on an Acer Travelmate C110. Since i do not have the original Tablet PC CD (it was on a hidden partition), I used a VL CD which did not accept my Tablet Key. I changed it on the Validation Site afterwards but I still cannot access the Tablet functionality. Are there any patches I can download to get that back?

OEM CDs and VL CDs do not accept the TabletPC specific product key. Normal retail CDs with SP2 <!!> may work, however. > I changed it on the > Validation Site afterwards but I still cannot access the Tablet > functionality. Only too natural: The TabletPC functionality has to be added during the *install*. The components for TabletPCs are not install if the install is not run with a TabletPC specific product key. One can not change things later. > Are there any patches I can download to get that back? No. Nothing like that. Only: If one has a standard CD which accepts the TabletPC product key, with "slipstreaming" one can produce a CD with integrated SP2 (or better: SP3 <!>). As SP2 adds the TabletPC stuff, one can then install XP with the tablet components and SP2/SP3 in one run. Saves a lot of time otherwise need for downloading and installing patches and updates. My suggestion: Contact Acer and ask them for the "XP Tablet PC edition CDs". They should make them available for a nominal fee. Rainald
