It is possible to buy OEM versions of Microsoft Office for about $150 or
so, and these are legal, just without support from Microsoft and the
fancy box. Microsoft considers individuals building their own PC's as
"system builders" and fully entitled to use OEM software.

However, I use OpenOffice 2.0 in both Linux and Windows versions and am
quite happy with it. I really like being able to work with the same
files, with no conversions, in both operating systems.

Perhaps directing interested parties to Open Office's official website:

http://www.openoffice.org

if memory serves, would be better. There, they can download the package
for free. I'd chastise the original poster, but it's apparent from his
email that it's either spoofed or temporary, so he won't be back to read
it. Please don't pay for open source software ... send the money to the
organization or foundation that creates it as a donation instead.
