From: Ian Scott on 16 Oct 2005 02:58 Ok, maybe I'm daft, but I've tried just about everything here to try an internet install of OpenSuse. I've downloaded the boot.iso, burned it, rebooted, followed instructions (what little they are), even have used dig to find IP address instead of domain name, and I usually end up connecting it would appear intitiall... but then am greeted with the message "file not found" after entering the directory information. I've searched on this, but haven't come up with anything useful that has worked for me. Anyone able to provide step by step information on how to actually do this? According to the Opensuse website, all one is supposed to have to do is point the installer (which I'm assuming is where they ask for the IP address of the ftp or http server) to the server, and yast takes care of everything... heh.. it's not that simple apparently. Thanks.

(watching thread) In retrospect, it appears I was doing it right, but the errors were related to "too many user" connection errors. I started to download the all of the iso's from the Wisconsin mirror (you being in the U.K., might not be as fast for you but I was getting 100 KB/s from there. I figured I may as well have the CD's anyhow and get some other work done while waiting for the downloads to complete :) Ian

To install you need a mirror that is complete: http://www.opensuse.org/Mirrors_Released_Version After instalation, you can point to an other mirror. -- houghi Please do not toppost http://houghi.org You are about to enter another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind.
