From: Laughingstar~* on 8 May 2008 17:06 When I click on my Word 2003 icon, or the program itself, Windows Installer 3.1 starts to Install..." If I hit Cancel, each time, the bells and whistles warn me about something, then Word opens up and acts just fine. I ran the Fix for Word in Help, and it completed quickly. I shut things down and tried again - it asked for my original program CD. I shut down, again, and the next time ran Word repair-it worked fine, but the 'installer' tried to run again...it's on my Programs in Control Panel. This began after the XP Pro SR 3 thingy ... shall I do a system restore and forget that download, or should I un-install Windows Installer??? System: less than 1/3 cap. used; 1-drive; Ad-Aware, XP Pro; Office 2003; use adaptive software for the blind -one at a time-primarily ZoomText; min. number of programs on Start (only what is needed). Thank you.
