From: toedipper on 21 Jan 2008 17:37 Hi all, Prob not the best place to ask but here goes anyway. Oracle 10g Express Edition on Suse 10.3 Linux, KDE 3.5.7 Downloaded the RPM and installed ok. Following the 'get started' instructions and one of the first steps is to click on the 'Go to Database Home Page' option in the Oracle Menu. When I do this Firefox opens and attempts to open http://127.0.0.1/apex However, rather than opening anything Firefox returns a 'Unable to connect' page as if it is offline. Any ideas? Cheers, toe http://www.vistaisrubbish.com

This is necessary ! Try http://localhost if you get a message that the server is unreachable then Apache is not running and therefore port 8080 can not respond.. Also make sure you type the correct url for Oracle which, by default is at port 8080.. http://127.0.0.1:8080/apex Finally, make sure Oracle is running !! If you didn't tell the installer to boot Oracle at boot up and to start Oracle running then it will not run. You can use Yast to start it by using the runlevel editor and 'Enable' it..

It was fixed after reinstallation of the oracle.
