From: kevin55 on 3 Jul 2008 04:32 I have a Word 2007 document in a template with lots of styles. In one document only, certain styles that should be body text level, keep changing to Level 1 in the document map and in the TOC. When I open the document mapand select the style, it shows as Body Text in the Modify Style > Paragraph dialog box, but in the Reveal Formatting Task Pane it is shown as Outline Level > level 1. If i open the Paragraph dialog box this way, I can change it to the right Outline level. After selecting "Update to match selection" everything is fine. But when I save the document and then open it again, all the problems are back. I have tried to copy the document into another blank template but this does not help. Other documents based on the same template do not have the problem. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to fix it permanently will be greatly appreciated! Many thanks -- kevin55

Here is how I work around the problem in Word 2003. On the first blank line of the document, format the line as heading nine Correct the level on the remaining lines that are change different than you want. Control-Q or whatever works best for you. Save the file. When you open the file again even with the document map opened, the formatting has not changed or at least it works for me. If you are using up to level nine in your table of contents than you will have a blank line showing in the table. Just delete the line out of the table. I do not have any other version, but I suspect this should work in the other versions also. "kevin55" wrote: > I have a Word 2007 document in a template with lots of styles.
