From: Stanley on 30 Jun 2008 12:23 I have owned a copy of Outlook since 2000. I have two problems. One is a hassle that I go back to every now and then. This time I have obsessed over it for 3 days. I have removed it (Outlook) as usual. When I click the exit cross or do file down exit - the GUI disappears but within 10 seconds the Sorry Microsoft Outlook has encountered a problem dialogue box appears. If I open TaskMan and close the process this does not occur, it closes cleanly. My second problem is this - The WebTool Bar is not functional, in fact, if I try to use the buttons, Outlook crashes. If I try to paste a URL into the box and go there Outlook crashes. I am using XP Service pack 2. My previous platform was 98. I think I had the same problems then, I have only just recently tried again. I would love to use the functionality of Outlook without the hassles, hopefull you can help. -- Thanks
From: Diane Poremsky {MVP} on 1 Jul 2008 00:26 find and delete outcmd.dat - that may fix the problem with the web toolbar. When you close outlook using task manager, you are crashing it immediately, not closing it cleanly - using the X or File, close menu, you are doing it the proper way but it runs into a problem and crashes. From: Stanley on 1 Jul 2008 00:50 Never thought of it like that. Just wanting instant gratification. Will explore the file delete and go back to the process of inspecting my add-ins. I only have a few and think I have covered that base but will go over it again. -- Thanks "Diane Poremsky {MVP}" wrote: > find and delete outcmd.dat - that may fix the problem with the web toolbar. > > When you close outlook using task manager, you are crashing it immediately, > not closing it cleanly - using the X or File, close menu, you are doing it > the proper way but it runs into a problem and crashes.
