From: "tcebob" handle on 28 Jun 2008 11:36 XP SP3 I use Outlook, but not for mail. On my desktop I have some quickie shortcuts for emailing favorite people, using Mailto:. Every few days the default email is changed to Outlook, which is a pain. How can I permanently convince Outlook to stop taking over? rs
From: Bruce Hagen on 28 Jun 2008 11:46 Any time you get an update for Outlook, it steals the default away from OE. Make OE the default e-mail client: http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx If you have MS Outlook installed, also see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#13 -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "tcebob" <handle @ gwi.net> wrote in message news:%23CYTMTT2IHA.5564(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > XP SP3 > > I use Outlook, but not for mail. From: Jack Sadie on 28 Jun 2008 19:56 In my experience Bruce, I think it "steals the default" every time Windows Update updates, even if Outlook itself is not involved. And this behaviour cannot be changed. -- Regards, Jack Sadie jaxalad-buying(a)yahooREMOVE.co.uk "Bruce Hagen" <Nospam(a)mymail.invalid> wrote in message news:%23wbZLYT2IHA.1236(a)TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > Any time you get an update for Outlook, it steals the default away from > OE. > > Make OE the default e-mail client: > http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx > > If you have MS Outlook installed, also see: > http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#13 > -- > Bruce Hagen > MS-MVP Outlook Express > Imperial Beach, CA > > > "tcebob" <handle @ gwi.net> wrote in message > news:%23CYTMTT2IHA.5564(a)TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... >> XP SP3 >> >> I use Outlook, but not for mail. If Outlook is not installed on your machine, you will not see this behavior. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Jack Sadie" <jacksadie(a)btinternet.com> wrote in message news:xNmdnWp3Rvc6UvvVnZ2dnUVZ8gOdnZ2d(a)pipex.net... > In my experience Bruce, I think it "steals the default" every time Windows > Update updates, even if Outlook itself is not involved.
