I know this is a little late but I just saw your post. I have had
memory problems with a P5E WS Pro also. Ballistics ran for a month or
so at 1066 set in the bios and then caused multiple BSOD's. Replaced
with G.Skill and the system would not post. Replaced with Kingston and
they ran ok set at 800 set in the bios. Finally, replaced with Corsair
Dominator and they ran immediately at 1066 with the dram speed set to
auto in the bios. They are still running and system is really snappy.
Running the latest bios version 0603. The funny thing is that with the
Kingston it took a long time to post. With the dominator it posts in
just a few seconds.

Congratulations.
Wonderful to hear you have great success with Dominator despite they are not
on the Asus QVL

just to confirm, can you give us you full configuration
4x2GB Dominator DDR2 1066?
core2 quad ? run at what speed?
external graphics cards? make and model?...

Also were the Kingston your tried: the 4x2GB 800Mhz or 1066Mhz?
Thank you

Got the RMA replacement this week, very cautiously tried it with

2 x 2GB @ 800MHz for one pass of memtest86+, ok
4 x 2GB @ 800MHz for a couple of passes of memtest86+, ok
then upgraded to 0704 BIOS, a few more passes of memtest86+
tried it at 1002MHz 5-5-5-15-2T with Ai Twister on light, ok
Then left it on overnight at 1066MHz, and it completed 8 passes
overnight :-)

I think I just had a real rogue of a board the first time.

Mine (now running happily) is

4 x 2GB Corsair PC8500 (5-5-5-15-2T 1066MHz) with the fitted memory
cooler fans

core2 quad 9450 @ stock 2.66GHz (recycled Cooler Master Hiper48, I
figured if it had previosuly cooled my P4 3GHz, it'd do a good job on a
core2, running four concurrent cpuburn-in processes the core
temperatures never exceed 54C and the PWR fan doesn't bother speeding up
*at all* compared to idle!)

graphics at the moment is only a Radeon x550

in the PCI-X slot I have a Supermicro 8xSATA II card
and in the PCI slots I have 2 x DVB-T tuners.
PCIe X1 slot empty
and 2nd PCIe X16 slot empty.

Now wondering whether to try some FSB overclocking, or wait for the 0801
BIOS to be released non-beta ;-)

thank you Andy.
what is the power supply?
are you using generic or some brand model and make?
