hello there im trying to figure out how to setup my p5e3 to use
my external Esata drive enclosure. . i plug it in to the port on back
of motherboard but nothing shows up inon my system , ??? disk is
active and formatted , works with a usb drive interface so drive is
good . What am i missing ???

Is the controller for the eSATA port enabled in your BIOS?
I had the same thing here with my M2V board (= a marvell controller).

hello there yes its enabled , i changed it to ahci or something
like that and the drive was recognized , BUT i tried to move some
files 134 megs took 18 minutes . something is not right , should
be really fast faster than usb i think.

What about the OS drivers? Do you have the latest installed?

hello there and thank you

i thought i had all the latest drivers ? but i did a update
anyway and now things are fine , works great , speeds are fine
