From: MrFudge on 1 Jul 2008 08:17 I have just a clean reinstall windows XP. Installed Nero8 Downloaded and flashed the latest bios 8202. Now it takes 45 minutes to supposedly burn a DVD-R when before it was something like 14 minutes including verification. I have 2X TSST corp (samsung) SATA drives and they both are the same. Any Suggestions? TIA

The BIOS did not automatically recognize my hard drive. I can't remember for sure what it was set on, but it may have been treating it as a CD drive. Anyway, I corrected it and it worked like before. Make sure your BIOS is detecting your hard drives and DVD correctly.

I have SH-S183L and had to update the firmware on the drive to fix a speed issue.

I have SH-S183L and had to update the >firmware on the drive to fix a speed issue. They are 203B's. So I tried your suggestion....deep breath: Downloaded and installed Samsung Firmware Liveupdate. Ran program. Info reports that Firmware upgraded. Delve more deeply and 5 hrs later after melting the phone to my ear with tech support find that the update program assumes that you only have one drive and therefore will not update the other. The only way we could update the firmware on the other drive was to turn the PC off pull the data cable out of the one that had updated. Run the update software. Rebooted. Turned the machine off. Reconnected the SATA cable. Turn macine back on. Now both drives have the latest firmware but.... Now windoze and Nero think that drive E is Drive F and vice versa! If you know a way to sort that one out please let me know. Thank you for your help and Edward's. Regards Mr Fudge

Highlight the drive letter you want to change and right click. You'll have to do it a couple of times, i.e., highlight e drive and change it to g. Then, highlight f and change it to e. Then, highlight g, and change it to f.
