Does the device have WiFi? Can you send over WiFi to confirm the settings
are correct?

And are you positive you've checked the "Use SSL for Outgoing mail" box
(it's hard to find- it's on a page that only displays if you check the "Use
Separate Settings for Outgoing" box in the e-mail account setup options.)

Yes Todd, I did.
And in that same page, I wrote again the user name and the password, nothing
in the domain, ticked box of save password and ticked box of require SSL for
outgoing mail.
Should I try something different in that page?
By the way, I don't have WiFi in the device and I can send when I'm
connected to my PC, that's really strange considering I'm using Hotmail
pop/smtp in OE.
Does this give you a new clue?
I hope so because I'm speechless.........
Thanks again for your help,
Steffo

If you can send from the device when it's connected to the PC, then your
settings are fine. I have to believe at this point, that your mobile
operator blocks port 25, as Bev Howard suggested. Even when roaming in
other countries, you still connect through your home operator's access
point, so the fact that it's not working when roaming doesn't mean much
(unless you're using different SIMs when you travel.)

There really isn't much you can do if your operator is blocking sent mail,
except complain to them, or use webmail (m.msn.com or mobile.live.com gives
you access to PDA formatted Hotmail web pages.)

Good luck!

If you're willing to put up with your techie friends snickering behind your
back, you can also use AOL as I do. Once the king of non-standard
proprietary overpriced dial-up internet, they now offer completely free IMAP
accounts.

GMail is fine as well, but their POP and IMAP implementation was
traditionally flakey on Windows Mobile devices.

Also, to be fair, Microsoft does intend to make POP access available on free
Hotmail/Live accounts later this year, likely to remain competitive with
GMail.
