The best way to check the status of a particular package is to ask on PEAR-general, or contact the lead developers. The leads for MP3_Playlist are listed on the package homepage at http://pear.php.net/package/MP3_Playlist The only risk to installing an 'unstable' package is that a newer release may change the api you're using - which is only a problem if/when you upgrade that particular package. PEAR's quality standards require that once a package is released as stable all future stable releases are backwards compatible; this ensures that upgrades will not change functionality. By releasing a package as alpha/beta, the developers can still change the api. Hopefully that gives you an overview of how the package status is used in PEAR. -- Brett Bieber http://saltybeagle.com/ |
