From: vpsanand on 24 Mar 2006 00:42 Hi Everyone, I just made a switch from PC to MAC. And slowly getting used to it. For my work I need to get JPEG or BMP images to edit so that I can later use them for preparing documents. As long as I had PC I used to do it in "Paint" ( I am not doing some real graphics work) and save as JPEG or BMP. But last night couldn't find something similar in MAC OS X. I am using OS X 10.4.5 and am on MAC mini intel dual core @ 1.66 GHz. Could someone please tell me that is there any application similar to paint for MAC? Thanks in anticipation. VJ

VJ- Did the Intel Mini come with AppleWorks? If so, AppleWorks can create and edit documents in several formats. One is "Painting", although there are sure to be differences between it and PC Paint. AppleWorks can open and save various file formats such as .PNG, .JPG, .GIF. As Michelle mentioned, GraphicConverter is a worthwhile program that Apple has recently supplied with the high-end Macs. There is a share-ware version available. Fred

From: VPSA on 24 Mar 2006 20:01 I am affraid that Mac Mini (Intel) doesn't come with apple works !! I will have to buy it and am frankly reluctant to do it. I did a bit of research too. Found that openoffice has got release 2.0.2 and can run on Mac using X11. It has a utility called draw. I will remove office 2004 once its trial period is over (which i found ridiculously slow for the machine of this configuration.) . I think it's all about money ! if you want to spend, you can get anything. but i was wondering that being one of the most advanced OS doesn't Mac OS X includes anything on the same lines as Paint ?
