From: Stephan Bird on 11 Nov 2007 04:42 Is any one else using Pan 0.132 under OpenSuse 10.2, specifically with a BTinternet connection? I note that in articles I've written in the Body Pane it gives the timezone as abcd -0600, yet in the Header Pane the time is my (i.e. local, GMT) timezone. Is this a featurette of Pan (and if so, is there a way to correct it), or is it more at BT's end (in which case I may have to live with it ;) ) Thanks Stephan -- Stephan Bird MChem(Hons) AMRSC Currently in Caernarfon, Wales
From: Andrew on 11 Nov 2007 06:19 You need to remember that BTInternet/Openworld/Yahoo news service is out sourced to giganews. From having a quick look at the postings from their users it is showing that the server appears to be set to or in a different timezone. eg Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 10:34:44 -0000 Lines: 4 NNTP-Posting-Date: Sat, 10 Nov 2007 04:35:01 -0600 From a posting in bt.broadband.support. Agreed. Yet your posts (seemingly via the same server) appear as I desire, with GMT timezone in both header and body panes. The "NNTP- Posting-Date" header confirms the -0600 offset, however, but the "Date" stays at -0600 for me, and 0000 for you. Something Outlook Express has right? Looks like a local (to the OP) issue to me. -- Ian...

Hmmm... date shows the date in GMT, where else could it be pulling from? Paul M is using slrn and you are using KNode - these both seem to act as I'd like, so I'll give them a tweak and see if I get the same answers (in alt.test, or similar) -- Stephan Bird MChem(Hons) AMRSC Currently in Caernarfon, Wales
