From: Kenny on 20 Apr 2008 04:51 Following on from a heated discussion with Phones4u regarding a Pay monthly contract phone with the 3 network, can anyone shed some light on the following: The contract phone was bought by my wife on Fri 18th Apr 08 from the Phones4u high street shop in Dunfermline, however when I learned of the extremely "bad" deal she had signed up to I returned to the shop on Sat 19th Apr 08. I asked the shop to cancel immediately the contract and was informed that 3 DO NOT have a cancellation period for contracts purchased in the shop "face-to-face". If the phone had been ordered over the telephone or the net then a 7 day cancellation period exits. So much for Consumer rights. Apparently if the contract was on any other network then phones4u would have been cancelled forewith! I spoke with 3 Network customer services who confirmed all this - has anyone else come across this with 3 and have you been able to cancel contracts within 7 days after purchasing from shop? Kenny P.S. the reason phones4u DID NOT tell about the no cancellation period was because we hadn't asked! How silly not asking a question about nothing she new about.

That's correct, she has no right to cancel as it wasn't ordered by phone, post, email, fax etc. http://www.consumerdirect.gov.uk/before_you_buy/thinking_about/mobile-phones/ > P.S. the reason phones4u DID NOT tell about the no cancellation period > was because we hadn't asked! You'd like them to explain *everything* that she didn't ask about? Caveat emptor.
