From: Ghostinz on 28 Aug 2005 18:05 I created a Pop Up menu in Fireworks. I then exported it to a template page in Dreamweaver. All the links work fine. If I display the page using IE, when I drag my mouse over the menu, I get the little hand with the finger indicating an active link. If I use Firefox, I just get a line for the cursor. I can still click on the link and get taken to that page, but what am I missing. Is it a problem with Firefox? or do I need to load something different for Firefox to view the Pop Up menu correctly. Inappropriate post? If so, Red Flag it!

It is possible to create popup menus without the use of JavaScript. Nick Rigby wrote a fantastic article for A List Apart on creating pure CSS drop downs that are functional in both FF and IE. At the Studio 8 launch seminar in Melbourne Jennifer Taylor mentioned that this feature will be available in the upcoming release of Fireworks but how exactly this will work I'm not sure. In the meantime it is not difficult creating your own from scratch. Rigby's article can be found at: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/horizdropdowns/ Cheers -Matt

Not accurate. CSS is not a behavioral language though it has been hacked to simulate certain behaviors in modern browsers that support the hover pseudoclass on elements other than links. IE does not support this yet and so you are faced with having to scruipt the behavior for the browser sitting on the desktops of the overwhelming majority of worldwide users. Those so -called "pure" CSS menus, if deployed correctly, are largely unusable beyond a single level. > At the Studio 8 launch seminar in Melbourne Jennifer Taylor mentioned > that this feature will be available in the upcoming release of > Fireworks but how exactly this will work I'm not sure. The menu that will ship in Fireworks 8 is very misleadingly billed as a CSS menu. It's a rather inefficient technique and we'll be publishing a thorough (and honest) review of it once Fireworks 8 ships. > In the meantime it is not difficult creating your own from scratch. > > Rigby's article can be found at: > http://www.alistapart.com/articles/horizdropdowns/ The menu must use JavaScript to work in the majority of browsers. Analyze it quite thoroughly - all is not as it seems :-) -- Al Sparber PVII http://www.projectseven.com "Designing with CSS is sometimes like barreling down a crumbling mountain road at 90 miles per hour secure in the knowledge that repairs are scheduled for next Tuesday".

I am, and it is way better, but still not perfect - and it still relies on the use of js, but not in the same way that the nasty predecessors did by any means. However, FW8 is not available yet. -- Murray --- ICQ 71997575 Team Macromedia Volunteer for Dreamweaver (If you *MUST* email me, don't LAUGH when you do so!) ================== http://www.dreamweavermx-templates.com - Template Triage! http://www.projectseven.com/go - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.dwfaq.com - DW FAQs, Tutorials & Resources http://www.macromedia.com/support/search/ - Macromedia (MM) Technotes ================== "Matt" <sasco(a)iinet.net.au> wrote in message news:df5gba$kv4$1(a)forums.macromedia.com... > Murray *TMM* wrote: >> Wanna know the truth about those menus?
