I've tried now with Safari, Netscrape and Firefox and it would seem that
someone has found a way to defeat the pop-up blocker.

Go to www.pollstar.com and there's no problem. But navigate anywhere on
the site and, Bling, up comes the pop-up.

Anyone know how I can block this ? [Please don't tell me to use Opera]

The ad server is :-

<http://geo.precisionclick.com/ad/?typ=1&pub=1&site=487&adfmt=3&aid=0&sid=0&cat=0&sub=0&pop=&tloc=False&click=&ipr=&ref=819393893524249696962389888585929374912376888624&ccb=31159547>

Can I block this permanently ?

If you go to their site they [purport] to give you the option to avoid
their advertising - naturally, it doesn't work.

Add that hostname to the localhost line in your /etc/hosts file, which will
cause all lookups for that host to return 127.0.0.1.

I think a lot of ad blocking tools will do something similar if you don't
feel confident in editing /etc/hosts.

Cheers,

Chris

popups still appear on opera (although they appear behind).
