From: alchemist on 18 Apr 2008 16:56 Not sure if it is widely known, but when creating a windows projector with an older director version, each instance allocates aprox. 10% of the machine's physical memory - just run a projector, open the task manager, and check the pf usage increase under the performance tab. E.g., on a machine with 2gb ram, running 2 projectors will occupy 400MB!! Though dir 11 is now released, I'd really like seeing an update for mx04, addressing the issue - especially since it must be an easy fix (an updated Proj.dll probably).

Hi, Chances of getting any updates/improvements tp pre-D11 versions of Director are pretty close to 0. It's just not worth Adobe's time. I'm not sure if the D11 proj.dll would work with D10. You could try at your own risk. If you find D11 suffers the same memory issue, please report it in the new community bugbase at: http://directorbugs.creativeperspectives.com/ Adobe people are monitoring that site so they will be looking at anything posted there. regards Dean Director Lecturer / Consultant / Director Enthusiast http://www.deansdirectortutorials.com/ http://www.multimediacreative.com.au email: d.utian(a)unsw.edu.au

And, from what I got, it was an easy fix -just a line of code that was inherited from ancient versions. The way I see it, dir11 is certainly a version worth upgrading to. But, fixing a legacy bug in the previous version would show respect for existing clients. Besides, unlike previous releases, there may be movies that can not be updated to dir11 easily - e.g. movies that performed binary buffer access/modifications (numtochar/chartonum). So, chances are that even dir11 owners might need to publish certain movies with mx04 for a while. > I'm not sure if the D11 proj.dll would work with D10.
