Hello

This is the problem of a friend, he has a HP relatively new PPC and he synch
with his notebook where does he has installed office 2000, a few weeks ago
he changed his notebook for a new one but it now is using office 2003, as I
understand he backed-up his old outlook info like calendar, contacts, mail
and tasks and moved to his new notebook. the problem is now he can not
synch his ppc with his new notebook, apparently the guys at HP told him is a
problem of synch with office 2003, weird I have my Dell Axim x50v and I
synch with my office 2003 but you know , I am only a user and you guys knows
a lot more.

So also he updated I do not know what because some of the guys at his
company told to update something I guess is the new activesynch but I do not
think is the one for WM5, when he did it apparently he lost all his info in
his PPC looks like it was cleaned restore to factory default.

Have you ever heard a problem like that

What do you recommend us?

Thanks

Sergio

PD i'm enclossing a copy of his email so that way he can now know about thsi
place.

hi sergio, I'm getting the feeling that when your friend restored, he might
have
created a new set of personal folders instead of restoring the standard
set. the active sync does not see new folders unless syncronize prior.it
means that to start with you should start with outlook standard folders.
That could explain why AS doesn't find anything to
sync with. I'd have to defer to some Outlook experts to help determine if
that's the case, and how to fix
it. On my own machine, I might back up my folders to a PST, Delete and
re-install Outlook and restore the pst data, making sure it went into the
'right' folders. it means if it does not by defaul we have to copy and
paste it one by one.
I am hesitant to advise that though, as I am OK screwing up my data, but
not yours.
however i am confident that this might be the case.
ciao gianpaolo. i have done it on my one and it works now.
hope to have been of some help.
regards.
