The card works great, apart from an unpleasant problem: in images where
the color changes quickly, there are strange bands of dots, like here:

Can someone please help to solve the issue? I'm new to radeon, maybe I'm
missing something.

Thanks a lot.

It seems more like the image itself has a problem. Can you replicate such
dots in other settings?

New to Radeon and the first you do is trying to crank it up with ATiTool.
:-)

Are you overclocking the card? Or attempting to run the 3D clocks in 2D?

Well, not really. I was trying to underclock it...
The dots appear expecially in moving images, like 3D apps or movies.
Static images are usually good, but not always. I tried all drivers up
to 6.10, all possible settings with Catalyst Control Center. I also
tried to change resolution/refresh rate. I tried analog and not DVI
connection. Thinking of flushing a new BIOS (any suggestion ?), or
perhaps coming back to my old nvidia 6600...

Just forgot to mention some other info: AGP 8x, mobo A7V8X-X with latest
4x1 drivers, xp pro sp2.
