From: David on 8 Jul 2008 23:44 When I attempt to backup Outlook 2007 I continue to receive message CANNOT COPY OUTLOOK: THE PROCESS CANNOT ACCESS THE FILE BECAUSE ANOTHER PROCESS HAS LOCKED A PORTION OF THE FILE. Sorry I am posting this question again as my old account's e-mail address had changed and I wasn't sure how to amend e-mail address.

From: David on 9 Jul 2008 19:01 Hi Diane Yes, I have a Palm Pilot but it doesn't access Outlook, I use a different program for updating my databases on the Palm Pilot. The only other application that would access Outlook data is my Motorola cell phone which updates through a program called Motorola Phone Tools but these programs aren't running most of the time. I find if I change the directory that Outlook will backup into, it will work fine but next day when I try to backup I get that error message "Diane Poremsky {MVP}" wrote: > what method are you using to create the backup? do you have a pda or other > application that accesses outlook data? > > -- > Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] > Author, Teach Yourself Outlook 2003 in 24 Hours > Need Help with Common Tasks? http://www.outlook-tips.net/beginner/ > Outlook 2007: http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/ol2007/ > > Outlook Tips by email: > dailytips-subscribe-request(a)lists.outlooktips.net > > Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ > Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com > Subscribe to Exchange Messaging Outlook newsletter: > EMO-NEWSLETTER-SUBSCRIBE-REQUEST(a)PEACH.EASE.LSOFT.COM > > ** Please include your Outlook version, Account type, and Windows Version > when requesting assistance ** > > > > > "David" <David(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message > news:2CCEB23B-0E7B-4CED-BF15-188E71DDD72A(a)microsoft.com... > > When I attempt to backup Outlook 2007 I continue to receive message CANNOT > > COPY OUTLOOK: THE PROCESS CANNOT ACCESS THE FILE BECAUSE ANOTHER PROCESS > > HAS > > LOCKED A PORTION OF THE FILE. > > > > Sorry I am posting this question again as my old account's e-mail address > > had changed and I wasn't sure how to amend e-mail address. >
From: joneskh on 22 Jul 2008 20:07 I have the same exact problem too. My error occurs when I close down Outlook and the automatic backup runs (every 7 days, I think). I am experiencing the same problem. Might it have to do with the indexing service? Any help? Thanks! Barry
