That is because even MS Word can't open Publisher files! The time and
effort to reverse engineer Publisher files is enormous. Besides serious
DTP users don't use Publisher, they are far more likely to use Quark.
Apart from pre-defined Wizards there is not much I could think of that
you would use Publisher for that you could not do in Writer and Draw.
These days, the need for separate applications for page layout and
document production is a lot less and likely to lessen still over time.
Getting Draw fully SVG compliant would be a much better use of
resources.

Hi, Julia,

If you are getting into desktop publishing, please do yourself a favor and=
=20
look at Quark or Adobe's InDesign. These are what the professionals use.

If you are looking for an open source option, Inkscape is closer to=20
Illustrator and is 'compatible' with OpenOffice.org or any non-MS=20
program, in part through use of SVG.

OpenOffice.org is getting more and more SVG support, and that will=20
eventually lead to better desktop publishing capabilities.

Best regards,

Creating 10 point upside down text using Draw is not a straight forward
process.

I just tried Printmaster 16 for the first time. A friend of mine is a
very enthusiastic user of this program. Anyone else here tried this
program?

Personally, what I am really interested in seeing is complete support
for MS Word's WordArt. I find I am unable to edit WordArt with
Writer.
