Hi,

We created a Master Project in PS2007 and inserted sub-projects in it as
read-only.

But when we publish the Master Project it also publishes assignments updates
of the sub-projects although these projects are read-only.

We would like to avoid it.

I was thinking of breaking the Link and Publishing it and re-establish the
link after publishing the master.

Any thoughts ?

Alright I broke the link and published the master now the resources gets an
email that they are assigned to the Master.

and then i cannot re-establish the link to the sub-project.

Any help will be appreciated.

How are you "publishing" your Master Project?

I use a "program level" project to link all of the projects I am working on
together under one summary task and use that to speak with managers and
stakeholders. When doing this, I use the "Insert Project" command under the
Insert Menu and I have no issues whatsoever. If you provide a little more
insight into your particular issue, I may be able to lead you in the right
direction.

I think Program Level and Master Projects are the same thing. Correct me if I
am wrong.

We have projects which are published in Project Server

So I then Open a new project
Insert > Projects > Retrieve the list.. > select the project

Select Read-only... INSERT

The new project in which we just embedded is the master project which we
want to display in PWA > Project Center
So we publish > but it also publishes the embedded project.

That's what I was thinking you were doing. At this point, I can't give you
anymore input because we have yet to deploy MS Project Server in our
organization. We've had a demo of it and senior mgmt is considering the ROI.
Hopefully, someone else can give you some feedback here.
