I'm sorry I can't offer any exact help, but in my two years of use, the holder would occasionally jam in the scanner. Most of the time, if not always, it was due to my putting a too long strip of film in the holder which prevented it from closing properly. A confusing and scary session of trying to get the holder out consisted of using the supplied pin in the hole on the left side of the scanner and trying to push and pull the holder back and forth with a series of random attempts of shutting down and starting of the scanner. Eventually the holder would come out neatly. I eventually learned to be very sure the film holder closes properly, after which I no longer encountered this annoying problem. I continue to make sure of this with my Nikon coolscan 8000, which, if I read correctly, requires me to open the whole device in case the holder gets jammed, and I definitely do not want to do that. So far I haven't had this problem.
