From: owenoftheshire on 12 Sep 2006 12:55 Hi there, I have a VIA VT8235 motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP-M 1700+. The fan is labelled as Pro 3000A+ and is really noisy. The PSU is an EZ Cool ATX-400 JSP and labelled as 'super silent'. The guy I bought the computer from told me that the fan fixing is not a standard fixing, although I can't get hold of him to find out which type. Basically my main question is: Does anyone know the standard fan/heatsink fixing for this motherboard? Also which fans are the quietest? My second question concerns the PSU. At the moment I can't really tell how noisy it is because the CPU fan is so loud. Are the EZCool PSUs really that quiet? any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks Owen

If I had friends, they would tell you.
From: johns on 12 Sep 2006 17:25 Call local computer store and ask if they have a replacement heatsink-fan combo for your cpu ... not the mobo. All of the replacement fans are quieter, because we threatened to throw the entire industry in the dumpster several years ago if they did not quieten those stinking fans. Don't you just love the squeely little whistle they make? johns
From: owenoftheshire on 13 Sep 2006 05:29 Thanks for the replies. I don't really want to buy from my local store because they're expensive and rubbish. I'd rather get it online. Are there any models in particuar which are quieter? thanks! Owen johns wrote: > Call local computer store and ask if they have a replacement > heatsink-fan combo for your cpu ... not the mobo. From: bgd on 13 Sep 2006 09:50 Don't hesitate to go about it custom with aftermarket stuff, all over then net . go as quiet as you can afford to experiment. there is even large heatsinks that don't need much. I found this site in same pursuit, and learned from others experiments, and articles written http://www.silentpcreview.com <owenoftheshire(a)gmail.com> wrote in message news:1158080154.407110.82980(a)p79g2000cwp.googlegroups.com... > Hi there, I have a VIA VT8235 motherboard with an AMD Athlon XP-M > 1700+.
