From: gecko on 16 Jan 2008 19:18 Someone I know is building another machine from junk parts. His current project has two sets of dual RAMBUS, 2 - 256MB PC800 and two 64MB PC800. He wants to increase memory size and says he found 2 - 128MB PC700 for $10 on EBay. This will increase the memory but decrease speed. Would there be improvement/loss in performance? Is it worth the trouble?

A WinXP Home installation with just a browser, word processor etc. will run fine with 640 MB, and adding slower memory would slow the system, but just slightly.
