I have a Dell 700-m Windows XP laptop with 512 Megs of RAM. I think I would
like to up the RAM. I have a choice of 1 or 2 Gigs. Would I be likely to
notice the difference among all 3 options?

I use it for Internet and some word processing and watching DVDs when I
travel.

Where's a good place to buy it? Crucial is cheaper than Dell. Anywhere else?

Thanks, C.

Note the specs of the RAM at the crucial website, then go here and
compare/match:

Is PNY memory any good? Staples has the 1 Gig on sale for $65 - much cheaper
than other places.

It should be fine. Just keep your receipt(s) so that you could return if it
did not work for any reason. Just be sure it's PC2700 or 3200 DDR (and not
DDR2).

512 to 1gig noticeable difference (for xp)

1gig to 2gig slight difference (for xp) and may not notice it

For xp, I think your best bang for the dollar will be going from 512
to 1 gig so if I understand your question correctly, get the 1gig
chip.
