From: Nog on 31 Dec 2005 14:03 Why can't I install an RPM with Yast? I have the installation source plugged in as my download directory path and status and refresh turned on. I get a "installation source not refreshed" message in an ok box when it searches for package information. The package does not show up in software management and I can't install the RPM's I downloaded. Why is this? I did all the manual said to do and it don't work. I also tried Kpackage to install and it did not work. I was trying to get the new Firefox 1.5 installed. I have both an rpm version and a .gz version. Neither work. By the way, why doesn't auto-update upgrade this online?

I can't/won't answer all of the "why can't/why won't" questions, but can suggest using the Command Line Interface (CLI) rpm command or use Kpackage to do the installation. xman rpm will get you info on the CLI. vg

For the OP: Just download the RPM (you obviously have already) So click on it in Konqueror. You'll be asked if you want to install it with Yast. Say OK and you'll be prompted for root password. Give that. Yast will install it and you're done. -- Vahis
