From: Splat on 30 Dec 2005 21:43 I've finally got my authentic shock-mount Anvil flight case for my PA gear. For a while I've had a bunch of ... I can't say it.... can't say it... SKB plastic rack cases... forgive me.. and I'm cleaning out what I don't need and moving everything over to the Anvil. Are there any rack "do's and don'ts"? Here's what'll be going in: Furman AR-1215; Crown CE-4000; QSC PLX3402; Behringer DEQ2496; Behringer CX2310. I also have some 4" box fans that I can throw in to help with the air flow with the Crown and QSC venting issues. I'd appreciate any tips, tricks, or recommendations on equipment placement or rack doodads that'll come in handy on the road. Thanks. -- Splat

Are there any rack "do's and > don'ts"? don't use SKB :-) Here's what'll be going in: Furman AR-1215; Crown CE-4000; QSC > PLX3402; Behringer DEQ2496; Behringer CX2310. I would not mount this all in one rack at your house you would have your house eq efx comps and gates(when you get some) and in your amp rack(which lives up by the speakers) are your crossover and amps. now there are some who put the crossover at the house I don't do this as a properly set up crossover really doesn't need playing with each night also when the crossover is in the house rack you need 6 return lines not two for the amps of copurse if you put your amps at house you will have a "lot" of speaker cabling going to the stage this will be costly, ineffecient electrically, and a pita for set up/ strike if you have to continue to use the skb until you have two(or three) racks I have a house rack and two amp racks, one amp rack behind each stack this allows very quick set up less cable to waste power and pick up at the end of the night George

Most of the places have the rooms on the ground floor so the case would pretty much be rolled right in. Would you still recommend splitting it up to two (or more) cases? -- Splat

In general, power distribution and heaviest gear to the bottom and most frequently operated/adjusted to the top. If I was going to put the listed gear in one rack I'd probably order them like this: Behringer DEQ2496 - 1 RU - 5 lbs Behringer CX2310 - 1 RU - 6 lbs QSC PLX3402 - 2 RU - 21 lbs Crown CE-4000 - 3 RU - 33 lbs Furman AR-1215 - 1 RU - 12 lbs ----- ---- 8 RU 77 lbs 77 lbs of gear plus cabling and the weight of the empty rack is going to be well over 100 lbs. Are there casters on that rack? I like to mount rope lights toward the back on the inside vertical walls. -- ======================================================================== Michael Kesti | "And like, one and one don't make | two, one and one make one." mrkesti at comcast dot net | - The Who, Bargain
