So, did you just disable it or did you *remove* it? (Right click the device
> Uninstall)
You're supposed to remove it.

I just disabled it. Inasmuch as this was my wife's computer & I was trying
this late at night without her knowledge, I didn't want to go past the point
of no return. I was afraid that if I uninstalled it & still couldn't get the
new card to work, I would need the drivers to get on-board video to work
again. I may or may not have been able to find the EMachine disk which I
think is just a system restore disk. The video drivers may be on her hard
drive in a separate partition. At my job they installed new video cards in
all their Dell Inspirons when they upgraded to Windows XP. I noticed that
they simply had disabled on-board video which had given me the idea to try
that. I "chatted" on-line with eMachines tonight & was told that the Radeon
was not compatable. I asked about a PCI PNY card I had & was told it also
would not work. When asking for a link of compatable video cards I was given
a link to Gateway's on-line store to one AGP card for sale. It was a PNY
Nvidia card. Now I wonder why he said the older PNY card wouldn't work. I
may give it a try anyway.
Maybe I'll try uninstalling the on-board graphics once I locate the drivers
& save them. However, now that I think of it, if I uninstall on-board
graphics & a new card won't work, I would imagine they would re-install
atomatically after I removed the card & rebooted.
Thanks for reading my post.
