From: Borax Man on 10 Jan 2008 11:24 Hello all. I have been able to apparently succesfully burn a Dual Layer DVD. I used a TDK DVD+R / DL disk and burned about 8 Gig of data OK. I used the following command. growisofs -dvd-compat Z /dev/dvdw=filename.iso. Growisofs completed without any errors. The problem is, that while the Dual Layer disc can be read in the burner, it seems only half the data can be read on my other Samsung DVD-ROM SD-186D which is in my PC. This other DVD-ROM, which is a little older, can read Dual Layer DVD movies without a problem, but with this burned disc, can only seem to read half the disc. I did a verify with X-CD-Roast with the ISO file and it came to an error at 50%. It is as if this DVD-ROM can only read one layer, but struggles to read the other layer. Is this a problem with the way the DVD was burned, or just a limitation of this DVD-ROM that it can't read Dual Layer DVD which are burned properly? Is there anything that can be done to make the DL discs more readable on other drives? Any help or advice appreciated? Dennis K
