Actually, since these are VST plug-ins, I'd guess the implementation of sidechaining at the plug-in level is standard VST stuff. I tried downloading the plug-ins and installing them just to check this out (and to check the plug-ins themselves out if/when I have time). When you load "reacomp-standalone" (the plug-in name -- ugh!) in SONAR, you also get an insert option on other tracks and buses for "reacomp-standalone(Input 2) - <trackname>" where <trackname> is the name of the track the first reacomp plug-in is sitting on. This is the normal way sidechain inputs appear in SONAR, albeit not always with such unwieldy names. ;-) As for the plug-in itself, its Detector input dropdown lists 7 options, 3 for Main Input (L+R, L, R), 3 for Auxiliary Input (L+R, L, R), and Output (Feedback). Based on this, I'd guess SONAR's sidechain send would be feeding the Auxiliary Input. One thing I noticed in the ReadMe file for the plug-ins is that these "standalone" (i.e. for use outside of Reaper) plug-ins are constrained to having 32-bit host/plug-in interfaces, whereas the ones available within Reaper apparently have 64-bit interfaces. SONAR's display of the plug-ins confirms that they are only showing up as 32-bit plug-ins. What do you want for free, right? ;-) Rick -- ======================================= Rick Paul Closet Cowboy Music (ASCAP) Web: www.RickPaul.info MySpace: www.myspace.com/rickpaulmusic ======================================= |
