Are you starting Reaper with a project or an empty template. I had the same
thing happen and it tuned out to be a plugin. It Started up fine empty
though. I edited one of the files to turn off the offending plug and it
atarted fine after that too.

Empty, no template no last song.

Rebooted and now the new version of Reaper loads fine... until the next
time. That's been a consistent experience so far, a reboot 'cures' the
problem for a time, making it almost impossible for me to recreate it.

I installed reaper on a 4gig USB drive. I don't even plug it into the port
unless I plan to use it. It runs fine from there.
