It does not work. But, the plot thickens. Now I suspect that either my just purchased HD does not allow me to boot from it, (which I was assured it does by Fry's) or, my Mac G4/400 does not allow itself to be re-booted from an external HD. Is it possible that the machine cannot be booted from an external? How can I determine this? Thanks for your patience, Michael

G4/400 was the Yikes! It has a G3 motherboard. It won't boot from Firewire.

Yes, that's entirely possible. Of the original G4s, the PCI Graphics models are not FW bootable, whereas the AGP Graphics models are. > How can I determine this?
