From: Robert Zahm on 12 Jan 2006 15:49 I am curious if I can use a Sprint PPC-6700 to remotely connect to a computer on an SBS2003 network. I don't think that the browser will allow me to download the ActiveX control to connect through the Remote Web Workplace, but I saw some posts regarding port forwarding and VPN. My question would then be getting the remote desktop client onto the Windows Mobile device. Has anyone done this? Thanks, Rob
From: Sooner Al [MVP] on 12 Jan 2006 16:53 On PocketPCs there is a built-in Terminal Services Client (TSC) that you can use to do this. I don't know if the PPC-6700 has that installed or not. On PPC devices you would look in the "Start -> Programs" folder. For PPC devices that don't have the TSC built-in you can download a copy from MS that usually works, AFAIK... http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/wce/downloads/ppctsrv.mspx Again its pretty crippled and I don't know if it will work on your device or not. Beyond that note that even if you get it to work that you can not connect to the server using 128-bit encryption. The TSC only does 64-bit encryption which is why some folks run it through a VPN tunnel... Your also correct in that you can not use the ActiveX control to connect to a Terminal Server or XP Pro Remote Desktop host using the web based client. -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) Please post *ALL* questions and replies to the news group for the mutual benefit of all of us... Beth, If the Terminal Services Client is not installed on your device and available in the "Start -> Programs" folder then you might try downloading and using this version. It should work for you... http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/wce/downloads/ppctsrv.mspx -- Al Jarvi (MS-MVP Windows Networking) Please post *ALL* questions and replies to the news group for the mutual benefit of all of us...
