From: Adam Leinss on 28 Jul 2006 23:10 Hi guys. Just ordered a water cooling kit from Danger Den. To prep for this, I tried to remove the heatsink/fan from the CPU (Intel 478). I bought the complete PC system as a custom build from Monarch Computers about 3 1/2 years ago. I've uploaded some pictures here: http://www.leinss.com/files/vanity/heatsink1.jpg http://www.leinss.com/files/vanity/heatsink2.jpg http://www.leinss.com/files/vanity/heatsink3.jpg Sorry about the low quality: the only camera I have is in my phone. On my order they list the heatsink as a Dynatron DC1206BM-L/610-P-CU. However, when I do a Google search on this part # it doesn't look anything like mine. Here are the numbers from the top of the fan: A74895-003 N3110VS FDBA-12B157 NIDEC Corp These could just refer to the fan as it has an Intel logo right on top. Looks like there are 4 plastic pegs attached to the motherboard holding the heatsink assembly down meaning that I would have to remove the motherboard and pinch the plastic pegs before I could remove the heatsink. Does that sound reasonable? Doesn't seem logical that you would have to remove a motherboard to remove a heatsink, but it appears to be that way in this case. Thanks, Adam
