From: Marilyn Campos on 1 May 2008 17:40 I have 6 projects with the same assigned resources. Each Project Manager is not using the same naming convention and named the resources differently on their individual projects even though they are the same 30 people. By combining all 6 projects and renaming the resources to all be consistant I see that the resources look duplicated. I don't know which ones to delete? I need to provide what tasks are left to do on my 6 projects ,including late tasks, with the named resources and exact durations by tomorrow. I am trying to provide clarity for upper management in the simplest form and promote the beneficial nature of that report. Please help?
From: Rod Gill on 1 May 2008 20:45 First you have to have consistent naming for each resource, change the projects. This is a people training and process issue. Second create a consolidation of all projects, but in the Insert Project box make sure you Uncheck the Link option. Now all project's Tasks are copied to the master file and all resources (with same spelling) are consolidated so you can report across all projects. This method does not update sub-projects if the master is changed (and vice versa) but there are no permanent links that can corrupt files if PMs rename, overwrite or move their project files. -- Rod Gill Microsoft MVP for Project Author of the only book on Project VBA, see: http://www.projectvbabook.com "Marilyn Campos" <MarilynCampos(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:3AF3B0BD-B4C4-4EC5-8253-290CD21DFECF(a)microsoft.com... >I have 6 projects with the same assigned resources.
